CA19.9 - PANCREATIC CANCER MARKER

The CA 19-9 (Cancer Antigen 19-9) test is a blood test that measures the levels of a specific protein, a type of tumor marker, circulating in the blood. This protein is made by certain cancer cells, most notably those in the pancreas and other gastrointestinal organs.

While not a standalone diagnostic tool, the CA 19-9 test is crucial in the management of cancers, primarily pancreatic cancer, to:
