The Herpes Simplex Virus Type I (HSV-I) IgM Antibody Test is a serological blood test used to detect the IgM class of antibodies specific to the HSV-I virus. HSV-I is the virus that most commonly causes oral herpes (cold sores).
IgM antibodies are the first type of antibody produced by the immune system in response to a viral infection, typically appearing within days to a few weeks after the initial (primary) exposure. Therefore, a positive $\text{IgM}$ test suggests a very recent or acute HSV-I infection.
At Augmentum Diagnostics, an NABL-Accredited Lab in Delhi, including our location near Dwarka, we offer HSV-I IgM testing to aid in the diagnosis of primary infections.
