The Herpes Simplex Virus Type II (HSV-II) IgG Antibody Test is a highly specific serological blood test used to detect the IgG class of antibodies directed against the HSV-II virus. HSV-II is the primary cause of genital herpes, a lifelong sexually transmitted infection (STI).
IgG antibodies are "memory" antibodies that the body produces a few weeks after the initial infection. They remain detectable for the rest of an individual's life. Therefore, a positive IgG test confirms past or current infection with HSV-II, even if the person has never experienced symptoms (asymptomatic carrier).
At Augmentum Diagnostics, an NABL-Accredited Lab in Delhi, including our location near Dwarka, we provide accurate, type-specific HSV serology, which is essential for diagnosis, counseling, and risk management.
