The Herpes Simplex Virus Type II (HSV-II) IgM Antibody Test is a serological blood test used to detect the IgM class of antibodies specific to the HSV-II virus, which is the primary cause of genital herpes.
IgM antibodies are the first type of antibody produced by the immune system in the initial stages of a viral infection. Therefore, a positive IgM result may suggest a very recent, acute, or primary infection with HSV-II.
At Augmentum Diagnostics, an NABL-Accredited Lab in Delhi, including our location near Dwarka, we offer HSV-II IgM testing to assist in the investigation of primary HSV infection, although its use is limited.
