The Estriol Test measures the level of the hormone Estriol (E3) in the mother's blood or urine. Estriol is the weakest of the three major estrogens (Estrone, Estradiol, Estriol) and is produced primarily by the feto-placental unit during pregnancy.
E3 production requires precursor steroids made by the fetal adrenal glands that are then converted into Estriol by the placenta. Because of this unique production pathway, E3 levels provide a good indication of overall fetal well-being, especially the health of the fetal adrenal gland and liver.
The E3 test is most commonly used as one component of the Triple or Quad Marker Screening tests performed during the second trimester of pregnancy.
At Augmentum Diagnostics, an NABL Accredited Lab in Delhi, we ensure the accurate measurement of this crucial marker for fetal health assessment.
