The Fecal Calprotectin Test is a diagnostic stool (feces) test that measures the concentration of the protein Calprotectin. Calprotectin is a neutrophil-derived protein, meaning it is found primarily inside the type of white blood cell called neutrophils.
When there is inflammation in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract—such as in the case of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD)—neutrophils migrate to the inflamed area and release Calprotectin into the stool. The level of Calprotectin in the feces is therefore a direct, quantitative measure of bowel inflammation.
At Augmentum Diagnostics, an NABL-accredited lab in Delhi, we provide accurate Fecal Calprotectin testing, which is essential for differentiating IBD from less severe GI conditions.
