The Free Kappa (kappa) Light Chain Test measures the concentration of unbound Kappa immunoglobulin light chains circulating in the blood. Immunoglobulins (antibodies) are composed of two heavy chains and two light chains (kappa or lambda). Normally, the vast majority of these chains are bound together in the complete antibody structure.
However, plasma cells (B-cells) sometimes produce an excess of light chains that circulate freely in the blood. The measurement of these Free Light Chains (FLCs), both Kappa (kappa) and Lambda (lambda), and the calculation of their ratio (kappa: lambda) is an indispensable tool in the diagnosis and monitoring of plasma cell disorders.
At Augmentum Diagnostics, an NABL-Accredited Lab in Delhi, we provide highly sensitive FLC testing, which is critical for the management of diseases like Multiple Myeloma.
