The Fungal Culture and Identification Test is a crucial microbiological procedure used to detect, isolate, and identify the specific type of fungus causing an infection. Fungal infections (mycoses) can affect the skin, nails, hair, lungs, blood, or other internal organs.
In this test, a clinical specimen (such as skin scrapings, nail clippings, sputum, urine, tissue, or blood) is placed on specialized culture media. The medium allows the fungi present in the sample to grow over a period of time. Once growth occurs, the fungi are identified using microscopic examination, biochemical tests, or molecular methods.
At Augmentum Diagnostics, an NABL Accredited Lab in Delhi, we maintain sterile conditions and employ experienced microbiologists to ensure the accurate identification of pathogenic fungi.
