The Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA Antibody Test is a highly specific and sensitive serological blood test used for the screening and diagnosis of Celiac Disease (CD). Celiac Disease is an autoimmune disorder triggered by the consumption of gluten, which damages the lining of the small intestine.
Gliadin is a component of gluten. Once ingested, the enzyme tissue transglutaminase (tTG) deamidates (chemically modifies) the gliadin. The body's immune system then mistakenly generates antibodies against these Deamidated Gliadin Peptides (DGP).
The DGP IgA test is particularly useful because it maintains high accuracy even in very young children (under two years old) where other antibodies (like tTG IgA) may be less reliable.
At Augmentum Diagnostics, an NABL Accredited Lab in Delhi, we provide accurate DGP IgA testing, a crucial component of the modern Celiac diagnostic workup.
