The Immunoglobulin G (IgG) Level Test measures the total concentration of IgG antibodies in the blood serum. IgG is the most abundant type of antibody in the serum (constituting about 75 to 80% of all immunoglobulins) and is the most crucial antibody class for long-term immunity.
IgG antibodies are produced later in a primary infection but dominate the secondary (memory) immune response. They are the only antibodies capable of crossing the placenta from mother to fetus, providing crucial passive immunity to the newborn. IgG primarily works by neutralizing toxins, coating pathogens (opsonization), and activating the complement system.
Measuring IgG levels is fundamental for assessing the overall health of the adaptive immune system and diagnosing deficiencies, autoimmune diseases, and chronic infections.
At Augmentum Diagnostics, an NABL Accredited Lab in Delhi, including our location near Dwarka, we provide accurate quantification of immunoglobulins for comprehensive immune assessment.
