The Leptin Level Test measures the concentration of the hormone Leptin in the blood serum. Leptin is a hormone primarily produced by adipose tissue (fat cells) and plays a central role in regulating appetite, energy balance, and metabolism.
Leptin acts as a satiety signal: when fat stores increase, Leptin levels rise, signaling the brain (hypothalamus) to decrease appetite and increase energy expenditure. Conversely, when fat stores decrease (during fasting or weight loss), Leptin levels drop, stimulating appetite.
The test is generally used in specialized endocrine and research settings to investigate causes of extreme obesity or unexplained weight loss.
At Augmentum Diagnostics, an NABL Accredited Lab in Delhi, including our location near Dwarka, we provide accurate hormonal assays for advanced metabolic and endocrine investigations.
