The Prothrombin Time (PT) Test measures the time it takes for blood plasma to clot after specific reagents are added. PT primarily assesses the function of the Extrinsic and Common coagulation pathways, which involve clotting factors I, II, V, VII, and X.
The PT result is most commonly reported alongside the International Normalized Ratio (INR). The INR is a standardized calculation derived from the PT result, which allows labs all over the world to report comparable results, regardless of the reagents used.
This test is essential for monitoring patients on Warfarin (Coumadin) and for screening for liver disease or vitamin K deficiency.
At Augmentum Diagnostics, an NABL-Accredited Lab in Delhi, including our location near Dwarka, we provide accurate and standardized coagulation testing, critical for safe medical management.
