The Rubella IgM Antibody Test measures the level of Immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibodies specific to the Rubella virus (German Measles). IgM antibodies are the first type of antibody produced by the body in response to a new infection.
The presence of Rubella IgM is critical because it indicates a recent or acute active infection, typically occurring within the last 4 to 6 weeks. This is particularly concerning during pregnancy, as primary Rubella infection in the first trimester carries a high risk of causing severe birth defects (Congenital Rubella Syndrome or CRS).
At Augmentum Diagnostics, an NABL Accredited Lab in Delhi, including our location near Dwarka, we provide rapid and precise serology testing vital for diagnosing active infections in pregnant women.
