The Free Light Chain (FLC) Assay is a specialized blood test that simultaneously measures the concentrations of unbound Kappa (kappa) and Lambda (lambda) immunoglobulin light chains circulating in the serum. Immunoglobulins (antibodies) are built by plasma cells, and they all contain two light chains (either Kappa or Lambda). In health, the vast majority are bound within the complete antibody structure. However, in certain diseases, plasma cells produce an excess of one type of light chain that circulates "freely." The FLC assay and the calculation of the Free kappa: lambda Ratio are the cornerstones for the diagnosis and monitoring of plasma cell disorders. At Augmentum Diagnostics, an NABL-Accredited Lab in Delhi, we utilize advanced methods to provide highly sensitive and accurate FLC measurements, essential for managing complex hematological conditions.
